Jin Kazama translates to Fenjian Ren in Chinese, meaning 'the humanity within the phoenix'.

JIN'S NAME REPORT:
Here's what Jin means according to Japanese culture:
Your name of Jin gives you a very responsible, stable nature. Your calmness of mind enables you to analyze objectively, and to make decisions quickly, making it possible for you to do well in business or in any professional capacity. Because of your serious, self-possessed nature you can appear domineering and forceful to others. You have a strong humanitarian nature and many times you are called upon to assist others with their problems. Your desire to help sometimes is not appreciated, however, because they feel you are interfering. You are fond of home and children and desire a settled environment. You have an appreciation for music and art, and could express along these lines. Mental tension could result through worrying too much over your problems or the problems of others, with an adverse effect on your nervous system.
To me, this analyzation of Jin's character seems very accurate...He is rather self-possesed, he is fond of home, he is forceful in his fighting style and he worries alot, causing VERY adverse effects!...(And those business qualities would certainly help him head the Mishima empire! ~_^ ) What do you think? ^_^

GENERAL NAMCO BIO:
Jin grew up living with his mother, Jun Kazama in a village in the mountains of Japan. He lived a good, peaceful life, learning about nature, karate and self-defence. But the legend begins when Jin's grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, filled with greed and animosity decides to kill his son, Kazuya Mishima, for fear of losing the Mishima empire. They battle and in the end, Heihachi ends up throwing his son in a volcano. As a result, the spirit of devil inhabited inside Kazuya is released and retreats to look for a host. He comes upon the home of a pregnant Jun Kazama (Kazuya is the father), but Jin's fighting prowess reigns, for she defeats him and continues with her life and begins to raise Jin.
Meanwhile, as Heihachi and his force, the Tekkenshu, are excavating an archeological site in Centeral America, filled with dead bodies...strange happenings begin around the world...in fact, famous world renowned martial artists begin to mysteriously dissappear. And once again, Heihachi wants power, and begins a quest to obtain the power of Toshin, a mysterious being which was released from the site in Central America, and had been responisble for vast destruction there.
In the mountains, Jun Kazama's psychic powers come in to play as she senses troube approaching her home and she consequently warns Jin about the imminent danger. She is forced to tell Jin that he must find Hiehachi Mishima, his grandfather, if he ever needs help, should he be left alone in the world. And she is correct, because on Jin'a 15th birthday, Toshin arrives for Jin...this time, her battle with the supernatural proves fatal, for she is defeated...and killed. After Jin sees all that he knew and loved destroyed before his young innocent eyes, he goes to his grandfather, according to his mother's wishes. There, Heihachi gives Jin a decievingly well upbringing...even enrolling him into his college, the Mishima Polytechnical Centre. Jin's strength and power is now at its best, and seeing this, Heihachi uses him to lure Toshin from hiding. So when Jin is 19, Heihachi begins another Iron Fist tournament...and Tekken 3 begins.
In Tekken 4, Jin can be found pounding a punching bag in Brisbane, Australia. Jin's goal now is to distance himself from his past and bloodline, due to what happened at the end of Tekken 3. Heihaci tried to assasinate Jin using his Tekkenshu force and broke all of Jin's aspirations for hope and family. Now the only thing on his mind is to destroy the Mishima Empire and everything its about!
WHAT IF HE REALLY EXISTED?
In my opinion (and I emphasize this!) he would keep mostly to himself, probably be almost a loner, and he would be a rather serious, no-nonsense type of guy. He would not be afraid to work hard, he would be extremely passionate and he would sometimes be cocky(c'mon, its in the bloodlines). He would be a real fighter. ^_^ However, being raised by Jun, I think he would have a sensitive side as well...including a sense of rightousness, purity and a love for nature. He would also be a sadistic, philosophically deep thinker....and in accordance, really be able to appreciate the arts. Considering his powerful physical stature, I think he would be crazily dangerous and tough, but still innocent in that adorable, pouty lip, Jin kinda way...

Tekken Movie Analization
PERSONALITY AND PSYCHE:
No, I'm not a fruit, I know that sadly, Jin does not exist as a human person on this planet, so he can't possibly have a personality, let alone a psychological side to him! I realize that, but let me elaborate more on my above opinion, based on the information that Namco has given us! And I'm not a shrink so this is totally just what I think! Your opinion may differ (some chicks get really offended by this kinda thing. Sheesh!)....
Well, most of the time, when you see an original Namco CGI, Jin looks either cocky or brooding and forlorn. Hence; this results in me believing that he likes to be alone to think and that he is overall an introverted person. He likely has a few friends or acquaintances, but he does not really have many support networks or someone to go to when in need of assistance(his whole family in some way or another deserted him!).
The reason I believe he may be cocky is because he attained a mass of wealth simply through his blood relation with Kazuya (before all his Hiehachi/Tekkenshu shooting him all the time problems), because he is his father's son(Kazuya, who is also a bad-ass) and finally, because he lived with his meanie self-evolved grandfather, Hiehachi for a few years, thus, the ego rubbing off on Jin a bit.
He was raised for sixteen years by Jun Kazama. She was a sensitive, kind, psychic, peace-loving person. She loved watching nice sunsets, and spending time with the animals in the outdoors, indulging in the beauty of nature. Most likely, in 16 years, he had inherited some of her traits and likes(He likes forest-bathing!). So this has also, in turn, made him a sensitive, compassionate, spiritual person. What an appealing combination! *sigh* The Kazuya/Devil and Jun influences are what causes Jin's ying-yang personality. Except Jin's ying-yang is constantly fighing each other...^_^;;; As a result, this causes him to be psychologically torn and generally reserved. As you can see in his end videos, he usually has to fight himself mentally to do the right thing...and he does end up doing the right thing. ^_^ *proud*
I think you must agree with me when I say that we LOVE Jin...but what does Jin love?!? Well, I know this is probably getting repetitive through your Tekken career, but he loves his mom. Who else ever loved him? (*sigh*..if he only knew about us fan-girlies!)...They had a special relationship and a psychic connection...He's always cherished his childhood with her, and her spirit is always around to give him guidance...he listens to her. Second, I believe he loves martial arts and nature(like I said before); this because I'm taking in the fact that he likes walks in the forest(I agree, its fun!) and that he has mastered the advanced Mishima Karate style, Kazama style of self-defense and Traditional Karate. I can just picture him, doing a series of jabs, punches and backhands, a round-house or two and finally a spinning back kick combo on his leather punching bag, in the outskirts of Japan (Australia in Tekken 4)...his muscular chest would heave and his sexy eyes would squint with sheer intensity in anticipation to hear the jangle of the chain, as his fist made contact(and impact!) with the bag; the rays of sunset would glisten in an array of colours on the beads of sweat dripping down the back of his...er..! Whoo boy! I sure got into that one!..heh..heh..er...um.... ^_^;; Imma shuddup now.
Anywho, being around martial artists, I can tell you that being a great martial artist, requires certain qualities in a person, which Jin may also contain. I think martial arts would have taught him certain humilities and honor. Therefore; I think Jin would have respect for the respectable (teachers, elderly, women) but also be really turned off by ignorance and ignorant people because Hiehachi is just that, for decieving him (And we all know how much Jin hates deception!). Also, martial artists feel really dishonored if you diss their martial arts rituals or history, and take it very personally, so Jin would be loyal to the elements which are of importance in his life(like marital arts/his mom). In general, he would basically value what Karate teaches him to value because that is one of his major influences. I think he would also know how to be focused on what he wants (For example, as we all know, in Tekken 4, he's out to get Kaz and Hei).
Would Jin want a girl in his life? I think we would all like to say...hell yeah, beeyatch, me!!...But I don't think Jin would be that type of guy, at least not at this point. I think he is just discovering how to deal with his inner turmoil, since he's had alot to deal with, therefore, I don't think romance would be a priority. But again, you may think differently! (like some say Julia or Xiaoyu. Noooooooo!)
All in all, Jin would be pretty unique; someone you don't run into everyday. He doesn't give a crap about what society or anyone thinks of him (he couldn't care less about Hwoarangs rivalry) and he does his own thing. Confused (because of all the deception he's been through), yet solid in his beliefs, worldly-knowledged and perceptive, yet somewhat innocent in practice.
More Jin stuff coming very soon...
